We like to say that Pho 4 Star was born on Kim’s kitchen table. She’s operated our restaurant for over 10 years – with the creativity, passion, and patience it takes to cook inventive vietnamese dishes. Our origins begin as most great stories do: with a beautiful family.
The Dinh family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam when Kim was just a young girl. With them, her humble family carried century-old family recipes. In her mother’s kitchen, Kim learned the art of cooking well. With a taste for rich flavors and a desire for excellence, Kim honed her ability to delight guests with her food. After graduating from the University of Minnesota and leaving a management position with Dillard’s, Kim devoted her life to building restaurants people would love to visit. Fast forward to today and Kim remains as resilient as bamboo (the tree she admires most.)
She’s rejoiced at the birth of her two sons, grieved for the loss of her sister, and through it all, made a home for herself in the heart of Northeast San Antonio.
Like most family businesses, Kim is devoted to her community. What’s different about Pho 4 Star Restaurant is that values aren’t lost in shuffle. Each customer is a chance to make a new friend. And we’ve made plenty! Randolph Air Force Base is our neighbor. Nothing makes us more proud than big Pho-face smiles on our servicemembers and their families.
Visit other restaurants and they’ll probably tell you they use canned goods or store bought Pho broth. Not in our house! Vietnamese food requires patience and Kim constantly raises the bar. Her family recipes are not only secret, they’re demanding. We simmer Pho broth for hours, sometimes days, crafting a taste that stays with you. Kim wakes up early to shop for the freshest produce every morning. You won’t find any shortcuts here.
If you love flavorful, fresh, thoughtful food, then Pho 4 Star is for you. When you visit us, we’ll welcome you with open arms – not just because you’re hungry, but because you’re family.
